Minister condemns violent act at primary school

“Ensuring that our students, teachers and school zones are kept safe is a paramount priority,” said the Minister of Education, Diallo Rabain, following an incident that occurred this afternoon on the Northlands Primary School grounds.
The matter involved two males entering the school grounds just after 3.00 p.m. today and engaging in a violent act. Police attended the scene and the matter is currently under investigation.

Minister Rabain said, “I wholeheartedly condemn any act of senseless violence, especially on school grounds, which should be safe zones for our children.

“I want to thank the Northland’s teachers and parents who ensured that students were kept out of harms way. I’m sure this must have been a very concerning incident for our young ones.”

Minister Rabain continued, “The emotional well-being of our students is foremost on our minds this evening, and the Northland’s leadership is communicating with parents to provide a measure of reassurance.

“Lastly, I want to thank the Bermuda Police Service for their swift response to this incident.”
