Minister Burch attends CARIF Conference 2023

The Minister of Public Works, Lt. Col. the Hon. David A. Burch, OBE, (Mil), ED, JP, MP, is attending the 7th Annual CARIF (Caribbean Infrastructure Forum) Conference, 2023, in Miami, Florida, September 18 – 19th.

The Caribbean Infrastructure Forum Conference (CARIF) convenes regional and global leaders to engage in the planning, financing and construction of infrastructure and capital projects across the Caribbean. It is considered the high-level forum for infrastructure developments in the Caribbean.

Minister Burch explained, “Across the Region, small Island states have been challenged to meet local infrastructure needs. There is much to be gained by sharing common experiences and solutions, and Bermuda can gain insight and perspective on tackling some of our current infrastructure challenges. Additionally, we will have the opportunity to demonstrate the considerable progress on our waste and water management project.”

Mr. Tarik Christopher, Acting Chief Engineer and Mr. Nasir Wade, Plant Manager, Tynes Bay, Waste to Energy Facility are joining the Minister at this conference. Mr. Wade is serving as a panellist for Waste and Water Management:  Innovations in the Design, Operations and Financing of Resilient Projects.

The conference comprises two whole days of round table discussions and panels, as well as an opportunity to network with others in the industry and is sponsored by KPMG. The Keynote address will be given by the Hon, William Duguid, MP, Office of the Prime Minister of Barbados, Senior Minister Infrastructure and Planning.

Some of the topics to be explored and discussed include Stimulating the Flow of Private Finance to Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure Projects;  Building a Better Project Pipeline;  Collaborative Solutions to Deliver on Clean and Resilient Infrastructure;  Meeting the Infrastructure Needs of the Cruise Tourism and Shipping Industries;  Designing and Delivering Better In-Line with Population Needs; and Innovative Approaches to Water Supply Solutions.
