MASC Helping Fathers Build Their Skills

MASC Ltd is helping fathers get the skills they need to be involved in their children’s lives through the National Fatherhood Initiative’s 24:7 Dad® program.

A group of 7 dads is participating in a 12-session workshop that will provide them with the parenting, relationship, and communication skills they need to be engaged, responsible, and committed fathers. The program is being facilitated by MASC at their new location on Reid Street, Hamilton.

When asked about his thoughts on the new initiative, Fitzgerald Williams said, “We are excited about this program and its potential. As interest grows, we aim to expand the group so we can reach and support more fathers.”

“NFI is excited about MASC Ltd.’s efforts to help fathers build their skills through the 24:7 Dad® program,” said Christopher Brown, President of the National Fatherhood Initiative. “Research shows that a major barrier to father involvement is a lack of skills in dads, many of whom grew up without fathers in their lives. At a time when 1 in 4 children live in father-absent homes, MASC Ltd should be applauded for its efforts to help dads get involved.”

In sharing his thoughts on the 24:7 Dad Program, Dr. Peets said, “We are learning as much as we are giving from the fathers in this program. We have all been impacted by the stories they have shared regarding their experiences with parenting and relationships.”
Developed by fathering and parenting experts, 24:7 Dad® is the most widely used evidence-based program designed specifically for fathers.

It focuses on the characteristics that men need to be involved fathers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This community-based program helps men develop the attitudes, knowledge, and skills they need to get and stay involved with their children. 24:7 Dad® focuses on key fathering characteristics such as masculinity, discipline, and work/family balance and helps men
evaluate their own parenting skills, as well as their fathering role models.

MASC Ltd is a male-centric counseling service, assisting all men, young and old, in becoming the best version of themselves. MASC champions a modern understanding of masculinity, challenging old- fashioned and damaging ideas. MASC exists to help males successfully navigate what fate throws their way, thereby enabling their success.

Speaking about MASC, Tyrone McHardy said, “In the process of learning how to be ‘man enough’, many men lose or fail to develop emotional literacy and relationship skills. We offer a safe and confidential space for sharing personal struggles so men can have a transformative experience.”
