A man with a lengthy criminal record was today sentenced to 18 months in prison for theft of a JBL speaker worth $200 dollars from the Price Right Shopping facility.
53 year old Che Pennyman of Pembroke plead guilty to the theft charge and five traffic offenses after being fined $2900 dollars.
Defense attorney Marc Daniels stated this man has suffered for years with substance abuse problems and it would benefit the community and the court to assist this man with help.
Magistrate Craig Attridge sentenced Pennyman to a total of 18 months into Westgate Correctional Facility, after the accused refused help from the courts and on the advice of his attorney by attending the Men’s Treatment Facility in Dockyard.
Magistrate Attridge also said “ The court emphasized the importance of addressing substance abuse. Hopefully, he can find the support needed to overcome these challenges in the future.
