Man Charged with Murder of Honnée Smith

A 30-year-old man of no fixed address was formally charged with murder in Magistrates’ Court this morning in connection with the death of Honnèe Smith.

During today’s court appearance, the accused man Jamie Cann, was not required to enter a plea, as the charge is indictable and must be heard in the Supreme Court. He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear at the monthly arraignment session in the Supreme Court on July 1.

Smith’s body was discovered by a member of the public, breathing but in an unresponsive state one week ago in the South Shore area of Warwick, prompting the launch of an investigation. Following inquiries, the suspect was arrested over the weekend and subsequently charged.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Honnée Smith’s death. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
