A man who stole from a young woman at the HSBC ATM on Church Street has been remanded into custody.
Daquan Burgess, 26, admitted stealing a $50 bill when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday morning.
The court heard that Burgess, of no fixed address, took the money when it fell out of a person’s pocket near an HSBC ATM on Monday.
The complainant was not named in court.
Burgess was arrested for the offence a short time later after a brief chase by two men who came to the complainant assistance near People’s Pharmacy.
Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson adjourned the case to May 22 for sentencing and remanded Burgess, who has previous convictions, into custody until next Wednesday.
