Police and other first responders are currently on the scene of a road traffic collision involving three heavy trucks on South Road, Southampton, near the junction with Harbour View Drive, commonly known as the entrance to the Southampton Princess.
Initial information suggests that two of the trucks were travelling in a westerly direction when one attempted to overtake the other. During the manoeuvre, it reportedly collided with that truck as well as a third truck travelling in the opposite direction, before overturning and completely blocking the roadway.
• Police Updated Statement: It appears that this collision occurred just prior to 9:40am Monday, 17th August 2026. Apparently the driver of the overturned truck, understood to be a 64-year-old Sandys parish man, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was later arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.
No other injuries were reported and traffic in the area was diverted for approximately two and a half hours, while the collision scene was processed. Inquiries continue and any witnesses are encouraged to call Constable Kori Jackman on 211, or e-mail kjackman@bps.bm.
