Man appeared in Magistrates Court charged with Robbery

A 19-year-old Pembroke resident, Sonje Wales-Smith, appeared in Magistrates’ Court today in connection with robbery offenses dating back to earlier this year.

Wales-Smith was first charged in June, following allegations that on April 10, 2025, in Pembroke Parish, he robbed another man of property including an iPhone, cash, and a Nolan crash helmet. The total value of the items was reported at $579.

Authorities noted that Wales-Smith was apprehended during a police special operations across the island. A warrant for his arrest had been outstanding prior to his court appearance.

During today’s proceedings, Magistrate Craig Attridge presided over the matter. Wales-Smith, who is represented by defense attorney Marc Daniels, was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to reappear in court for disclosure on Friday, September 26 at 9:30 a.m.
