A 34-year-old man appeared before Senior Magistrate Maxanne Anderson in Magistrates’ Court yesterday, facing serious charges stemming from a recent altercation at a Pembroke home.
The defendant, Darronte Dill of Warwick Parish is charged with:
- Possession of a bladed article, and
- Two counts of threatening behavior.
He has denied all charges.
Crown prosecutor Carrington Mahoney outlined the allegations, stating that the defendant was seen riding a black motorcycle and wearing black clothing when he allegedly confronted a woman—identified only as R N.—on Ewing Street. During the confrontation, he is accused of issuing multiple violent threats, including a threat to slit the woman’s throat.
According to the prosecution, the altercation escalated when the defendant reportedly called the woman’s son a rapist, to which she responded by calling him a killer. It was then, the court heard, that he allegedly threatened to kill her and warned that if she contacted police, he would return and “slice her throat.”
Police were contacted and located the man in the Rambling Lane area shortly after. Upon his apprehension, officers reportedly discovered a knife in his possession and, nearby, a machete—identified by the complainant as a weapon the accused had previously threatened her with. The suspect was taken to his home as police searched him residence and found plant like material believed to be marijuana, a scale fitted for the use of drugs and a razor blade, charges are pending.
Prosecutor Mahoney also informed the court that the defendant has a history of similar offenses and previously served a lengthy prison sentence. Notably, he was paroled three years ago after being convicted of the double murder of two individuals in the St. David’s Parish area.
Given the seriousness of the allegations and the defendant’s criminal history, Senior Magistrate Anderson ordered that Dill be remanded into custody. The case has been adjourned for mention on May 19, 2025, at 2:30 p.m.
