At one of Bermuda’s most iconic landmarks, the historic Somerset Bridge—the world’s smallest operational drawbridge—love was the main attraction on Thursday morning as Charles Harvey surprised his wife, Beverly, with a heartfelt breakfast to celebrate their 43rd wedding anniversary.
The picturesque waterfront setting became the perfect backdrop for a romantic anniversary breakfast that Mr. Harvey prepared entirely on his own before sunrise.
“I got up early this morning, six o’clock,” Harvey said with a smile. “I made my pastry, fresh vegetables, everything with the cheese and eggs. I did it myself while she was sleeping. I’m the chef.”
The thoughtful gesture caught the attention of passersby, who admired the beautifully arranged breakfast overlooking the water.
When asked what has kept their marriage strong for more than four decades, Harvey offered simple but meaningful advice.
“There will always be challenges every day,” he said. “You just have to hang in there, listen to what they say, let them have their way a little bit, and things will work out.”
