A 33-year-old inmate currently serving a life sentence at Westgate Correctional Facility has denied making threats against a corrections officer during an appearance in Magistrates’ Court.
Leveck Roberts appeared before Magistrate Auralee Cassidy on charges alleging that on March 26, in Sandys, he used threatening words toward an HMS Corrections officer.
The court heard that Roberts is accused of saying, “Come outside, I want to punch you in the head,” before allegedly adding, “That’s okay because I am still going to set your car on fire.”
Roberts pleaded not guilty to the charge.
As Roberts is already serving a life sentence, he was remanded into custody. The matter has been adjourned until August 14 at 9:30 a.m. in Magistrates’ Court No. 1.
Matthew Frick appeared for the Crown, while duty counsel Vaughn Caines represented Roberts during the proceedings.
