The experience of pregnancy is for most women a time of great joy.
Troublingly, it can also be a time of great risk.
And for Jill Thompson, it was.
For her, the experience became fraught with danger. In March of this year she suffered heart failure, leaving her and her unborn child at risk.
A decision was made to have Ms. Thompson flown to Boston’s, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where the facilities and personnel are readily available for dealing with situations such as the one faced by the young mother.
God smiled on her and with the assistance of the professionals at Brigham and Women’s, mom survived and gave birth to a bouncing baby boy.
Having now triumphed over that ordeal, Ms. Thompson was then informed she now faced medical expenses totalling $575,000.00.
Ms. Thompson who also has a ten-year-old son who is on the autism spectrum was assisted by the Lady Cubit Compassionate Association, also known as the LCCA, in meeting the cost of her medical care overseas.
Those funds now have to be repaid.
That is a task which would be a formidable challenge for most of us, but especially so for Ms. Thompson. She is on financial assistance and earns a meagre income as a packer at grocery stores.
She has been granted a temporary fundraising license allowing her to solicit funds from the public. It however expires in August.
She is appealing to the charitable nature of our community for help in defraying the cost of her medical care.
“I know there are those who may question my decision making in light of my financial situation even before having my second child.”
“I am pleading, that you don’t judge me. Rather, please, look past what some would consider my error and do whatever you can to assist me in this my time of need. You can contact me at 1-441-514-4435 or email jillthompson1991xx@gmail.com
