The spotlight will be on the legacy and traditions of Bermuda’s Social Clubs next week when the Department of Culture hosts its February edition of the Bermudian Heartbeats Lecture Series – More Than ‘Just’ Sports – Social Clubs: Their Importance to Bermuda’s History and Future – Part I – Western Clubs.
Taking place next Wednesday, February 22nd, some of the featured speakers include representatives from Somerset Cricket Club, Warwick Workmen’s Club, Southampton Rangers Sports Club and PHC.
A Government spokesperson added, “We encourage interested members of the public to join us for an evening exploring the past, present, and future of Bermuda’s Western social clubs. Bermuda’s social clubs are best known for their sports teams, but their significance and impact in Black Bermudian history stretch far beyond the boundaries of any oval or field. So, please come along and share your own memories and stories about these clubs.”
The lecture series gets underway at 6.00 pm and is free to the public. For in-person tickets please register here: https://bit.ly/bdasocial1. For further information call 292-1681 or email: cghay@gov.bm
