Husband and wife law team Jaymo Durham and Keiva Maronie Durham are facing considerable jail time after being found guilty of stealing $1.2 million from four elderly clients.
The couple, who once ran a legal firm together, were remanded until September after a jury convicted them of three counts of theft and three of making false statements, alleged between 2012 and 2019.
The 44-year-old Mrs Durham was convicted on all six counts, while her 55-year-old husband was found guilty of one theft charge and cleared of the rest.
The court heard the couple, acting as receivers for the women, spent client funds on restaurants, US trips and loans. They claimed there were accounting errors and believed they had the authority to use the money.
Puisne Judge Juan Wolffe denied bail and ordered a social inquiry report. The Durhams said they will appeal.
