Keep Bermuda Beautiful (KBB) has joined forces with Recycle Bermuda and the Department of Waste Management to encourage all spectators of this year’s Annual Cup Match Classics at Somerset Cricket Club (SCC) to properly dispose of their trash.
KBB extends heartfelt thanks to the team at K. Margaret Carter for their assistance in bundling two trash bags together—one black bag for regular trash and one blue bag for recycling tin, aluminium, and glass. Each spectator spot will receive a bundle each day, accompanied by a reminder tag to recycle.
KBB is delighted to have collaborated on the waste management plan with SCC President Mr. Richard Scott and MB Enterprise. Together, they aim to minimize trash and increase recycling during the two-day event. The Somerset Cricket
Club looks fantastic and is ready to host over 12,000 fans and visitors. This year, the number of trash and recycling bins has increased, and they will be strategically placed around the grounds. Eye-level signs have been added to some blue recycling bins with blue bags, reminding spectators to recycle and what materials belong in the bins. All other trash can
be placed in the red bins with black bags.
KBB’s Executive Director, Angel Smith, expressed her excitement about celebrating her first Cup Match with KBB. This is also her first time attending the Cup Match Classic. She has enjoyed working with the team to ensure successful waste management and wishes everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday.
Smith also encouraged everyone to consider the 5Rs:
1. RETHINK your personal habits
2. REFUSE single-use plastic
3. REDUCE the amount of waste you generate
4. REUSE eco-friendly reusable products as often as possible
5. RECYCLE tin, aluminium, and glass
“Let’s all do our part and contribute to a cleaner, greener, and more beautiful Bermuda for all,” she added. Visit
