Jason Hayward offers A Toast To The Greatness of PLP

In a packed house of over four hundred persons attending the Progressive Labor Party (PLP) Legacy Gala Banquet held at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess Hotel last night, the Hon. Jason Hayward spoke of the PLP organization as being a Movement not just a political party.

Esteemed Premier, distinguished colleagues, members, and honored guests,

Please join me in raising a glass tonight to celebrate an institution that was founded in 1963 as now is woven into the very fabric of Bermuda: the Progress Labour Party.

For decades, the PLP has embodied the aspirations, resilience, and heart of this island nation. We are not just a political party; we are a movement born from a deep and abiding commitment to social justice, economic equality, and the self-determination of the Bermudian people.

Tonight, we celebrate our legacy, a legacy built on landmark achievements.

Tonight we salute the passion, the dedication, and the tireless work of the Premier, the Cabinet, and every single representative and volunteer who works every day to make that vision a reality.

We raise our glasses high to the past successes, the present leadership, and the bright, progressive future they are building for our Bermuda.

The PLP represents Bermudian excellence. And we have been lead by a leader that epitomizes Bermudian Execellence. The Premier our party leader has ushered us through 3 successful elections victories in 2017, 2020 and 2025. He and his Cabinet demonstrated outstanding leadership during the pandemic. He has demonstrated fiscal competence and operates with the upmost professionalism throughout his tenure.

The Premier started out as a young member who the party nurtured into a leader, that will also be our future, embracing our young members and helping them unlock their potential.

In the room tonight I see excellence, but if we are honest we must also acknowledge that some of us have anchors in our lives that hold us back from striving for excellence. Tonight I urge you to identify your anchor and unlock your excellence. The PLP must also identify the actors that are holding the party back and rid our selves of those anchors.

Please join me in this cheers to the PLP and cheers to Bermudian excellence.
