Jah-nhai Perinchief aiming for Gold in 2024 Olympics Games Paris France

Healthy and excited. That’s perhaps the best way to describe triple jumper Jah-nhai Perinchief at the moment.

Having qualified for the 2024 Olympics in Paris France, the now gold medal, hopeful, told TNN News, in an exclusive interview it’s all about fine tuning in the leadup to the games that commence in just under two weeks.

The former High Jumper says he’s focused on himself. “I know who the heavy hitters are, but that’s not my concern. Anything can happen on any given day. They may have a good day and I have a better day. I’m just working on what I need to do and execute to the best of my ability and hope that on the day, it’s what was required to win that gold medal.”

A gold medal he said he thought would come in high jump, but the opportunity has presented itself in another discipline and he’s not disappointed by any means. “Making it to the Olympics is a dream come true for any athlete. It means you’re one of the best in the world. It didn’t happen in the high jump, but here I am, blessed and thankful.”

Jah-nhai said none of this would have been possible without the support of his family, his mother in particular and of course, his brothers. Jannhai also reflected on the inspiration that Brian Wellman and Flora Duffy have been. Their words of encouragement and advice, he said, have been invaluable. He also expressed his gratitude to Physiotherapist, Craig Brown, who has helped him recover from injury and helped to keep him healthy over the years.

He told us, “This is more than a dream come true for me. It’s the fulfilment of years of commitment, hard work and sacrifice. It’s now down to who everything clicks and falls into place for on the big day.”
