Earlier this week, Bermuda rolled out the green carpet for a special visit that blended sport, culture, and celebrity charm. International hip-hop icon Ja Rule and golf enthusiast Billy Jones brought their GoldLinks Golf Classic to the island — a high-spirited gathering of friendship, competition, and appreciation for Bermuda’s natural beauty.
In an exclusive one-on-one with TNN’s Trevor Lindsay, Ja Rule expressed his deep appreciation for the island and its people.
“It was amazing. We had a really great time,” Ja Rule shared. “The people are very hospitable, warm. You always get that island vibe when you come out here. I’ve been before, but never had a chance to golf — and this was a different experience. I really enjoyed it.”
Billy, the mind behind the GoldLinks Golf Club, explained why Bermuda was a must-visit destination for the group.
“We love amazing courses and destinations, and Bermuda was definitely on our bucket list. We wanted to bring our network here and really grow the game authentically. And of course, I had to call my bro Ja, because he’s just as much a golf junkie as I am.”
The event wasn’t just about the game — it was about connection. From locals to government leaders, the team behind the GoldLinks experience felt embraced by the island’s energy. Ja Rule highlighted how golf serves as a meditative space for him, especially in stunning destinations like Bermuda.
“Mentally, it’s very therapeutic,” he said. “You get to decompress and get into your inner thoughts. Golf is you versus you. It’s a challenge I love, and the courses here were amazing — especially with that Bermuda wind,” he joked. “It made the game even more interesting.”
When asked if they’d return, Billy quickly corrected the question:
“No, no — the real question is when are we coming back? We want to make it bigger, bring more awareness to the island, and keep using this platform to spotlight Bermuda in a global way.”
Ja Rule also gave a heartfelt shoutout to Bermuda’s leadership and hospitality:
“Big up to everyone on the island — the Premier, David Burt; Jason Wade; Billy Jones and the whole GoldLinks crew. The people here treated us so well. I took a lot of pictures and met a lot of fans. It was a beautiful experience.”
And could Bermuda make an appearance in Ja Rule’s next creative musical project?
“You got some free studio time?” he laughed. “Me and Billy might be back to work something out!”
With its crystal-blue fairways, warm-hearted locals, and a passion for both community and culture, Bermuda has certainly secured a spot in the hearts of Ja Rule, Billy, and the GoldLinks team.
Stay tuned — their return might be closer than we think.
