Investigation commence after Police officer discharged his firearm

In a TNN Exclusive, the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) has responded to an inquiry from TNN News regarding a reported firearm incident at a location in Prospect.

According to initial information received, TNN  was led to believe that a police officer may have discharged their firearm during the incident.

In response to our inquiries, the police issued the following statement:

”The Bermuda Police Service (BPS) can confirm that an on duty police officer unintentionally discharged his firearm over the past weekend, during a weapons check.

There were no injuries or damage to property during the incident .

This matter is currently being investigated by a BPS Firearms Instructor to establish the circumstances involved.

Notwithstanding the investigation, a review of the already stringent BPS protocols governing firearms safety has now commenced.”
