Investigation begins after unmarked Police Car and Motorcycle Road Traffic Collision

Around 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 7th, 2023, police and EMTs attended a two vehicle road traffic collision involving an unmarked police car with officers on patrol duty and a motorcycle, near the junction of Hermitage Road and Middle Road, Devonshire.

Both vehicles were traveling west along middle road, when the driver of the police car signaled and slowed the vehicle to make right hand turn into the car park at The Bermuda Squash Racquets Association.

The motorcycle struck the back of the police car, causing the male rider to be thrown onto the roadway.

He sustained a laceration to the head and was unresponsive for a short time.

The injured man was attended to at the scene by EMTs who reported he smelt of alcohol.

He was subsequently transported by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for further treatment to his injury, which was not considered life threatening.

Neither of the two officers inside the police vehicle were injured.

Both vehicles were extensively damaged.

The area of roadway where the collision occured was closed while being forensically processed.

Traffic headed west was diverted onto Hermitage Road while eastbound traffic was diverted along Chaingate Hill.
