In an effort to spread some tangible holiday cheer Josette Brimmer is putting on a Christmas giveaway for those in need in the form of a toy drive.
This year Ms Brimmer has sought to make it a family affair, by involving her granddaughter.
“I wanted to share an additional aspect of our toy drive initiative that I believe adds a special touch to our mission of spreading joy and giving back,” said Ms Brimmer. “I have involved my granddaughter in this endeavor, as I believe it is crucial to teach the younger generation the value of kindness and the importance of giving back to others.
“By including my granddaughter in the toy drive, I hope to instill in her a deep understanding of the impact we can make when we extend a helping hand to those in need. I want her to witness firsthand the joy that comes from giving selflessly and the positive influence it can have on both the recipients and ourselves.
“Together, we have been actively participating in the toy drive preparations, from collecting and sorting toys to reaching out to families, to wrapping the gifts and organizing distribution. It has been another wonderful opportunity for us to bond, as she already helps me each afternoon after school with the kids in my tutoring service. This toy drive experience also fosters empathy and compassion within her young heart.
“I strongly believe that by involving children in acts of kindness from an early age, we can shape them into compassionate individuals who are eager to make a positive difference in the world. “Through this experience, my granddaughter is learning the importance of empathy, generosity, and the power of community engagement.
“My granddaughter has expressed her happiness and excitement in being able to assist her grandmother with the toy drive. She has witnessed firsthand the love and dedication I have for helping others, and it has left a lasting impression on her young heart. She admires the example I have set for her and is in awe of the giving spirit that drives me to make a positive impact in our community.
“Through her involvement in the toy drive, my granddaughter has been able to witness the joy and gratitude that come from helping those in need. She has experienced the power of a simple act of kindness and the ripple effect it can have on others. It warms my heart to see her enthusiasm and understanding of the importance of giving back at such a young age.”
