Inmates Caught Smuggling Drugs at Minimum -Security Facility

TNN has received information regarding an incident at a minimum-security prison facility last week.

According to a well placed source, two inmates were subjected to a routine screening and contraband check after returning from a work detail outside the facility.

During this process, authorities discovered that the individuals had attempted to smuggle drugs into the prison. While the specific type of drugs has not been confirmed, sources indicate that the contraband was found concealed inside their buttocks.

Following the discovery, both inmates were immediately transferred to a higher-security facility, where an investigation is now underway. We understand that charges will be formally filed, though details regarding the specific offenses are still pending.

TNN has reached out to the Minister of National Security for an official response and awaits further details regarding the case. Additionally, both individuals—who are serving lengthy prison sentences and are well known by the authorities —will be brought before the Treatment of Offenders Board for adjudication.

A court date in Hamilton Magistrates’ Court is anticipated in the near future. TNN will continue to monitor this developing story and provide updates as more information becomes available.
