IMPACT Mentoring Academy Opens Enrolment For Upcoming School Year

IMPACT Mentoring Academy (IMA) (Charity #835) is accepting applications for the upcoming 2021/22 school year.

An alternative to mainstream education, IMA’s mission is to challenge young men to discover and develop their unique God-given potential, empowering them to complete their senior school education and achieve either college placement or employment.

IMA takes a hands-on, holistic approach to the education of their middle school and high school students. Their educational program is designed around male-oriented learning, blending applied theory with tactile engagement, and their multi-grade classes allow students to function at their own pace.

Executive Director, Dr. Timothy Jackson, explains: “We believe that every young man has the potential for greatness. To us, that means the boy is the solution, not the problem, and we have the unique privilege and awesome responsibility of unlocking that potential through a transformational educational experience.”

Dr. Jackson continues: “The conventional educational approach, combined with the disintegration of home, societal values, and challenging socio-economic conditions, creates an almost insurmountable challenge for our young men. IMA is working toward systemic change for a sustainable Bermuda. Helping this demographic is an integral part of our vision.”

IMA’s approach to hands-on learning includes overnight stays on Spirit of Bermuda, their rites of passage adventure week, an annual spoken word night, and local and overseas service projects.

They also offer an Industry and Technical Trades Program, designed to expose students to the world of physical labour, technical knowledge, and the many technological opportunities available locally and abroad.

In addition to their comprehensive educational process, IMA aims to create a relationally rich environment where students can be tutored, mentored, and inspired, and where parents are supported through information, instruction, and accountability.

IMA’s retention rate stands at 91%, along with a 96% rate of college or job placement for their senior school graduates. Their graduates are not only self-assured, but are prepared for what comes next.

Enrolment for the 2021/22 school year is open to middle school and high school boys. Applications can be submitted through www.impactbda.com.
