Sister of Murder victim speaks out, It was in the early hours of Thursday morning, Janine Gibbons-Alicea received a phone call from her sister, informing her that their brother Duane Gibbons had been stabbed and killed in Hamilton parish.

“ [ When she told me], it was like a dream, it made no sense,” Ms. Gibbons-Alicea told TNN’s Trevor Lindsay. “ I don’t think that it has really hit us yet, it’s so unreal.”

She remembers her brother as a happy go-lucky person who would help everyone and anyone in need and very devoted to his family, particularly to his daughter and six-year-old granddaughter. Duane loved the game of golf you would find him on or around Belmont Golf Course all the time.

“ If anyone drove past [Swizzle Inn and Grotto Bay] and saw my brother against the wall, please come forward and tell the police what you saw, because whoever is responsible for this heinous act needs to be caught and justice needs to be served,” she said.

“ Too many senseless killings are happening in Bermuda and it needs to stop, I left Bermuda in 1997 and things are so different now, We have to now lay my brother to rest, my family is hurting [oh my God] help us get through this.”

The Bermuda Police Service issued a statement early yesterday morning notifying the public of the incident.

At 2:20 a.m. today, Thursday 16th September, 2021, police received a 911 call reporting an unresponsive male lying in the eastbound lane of Blue Hole Hill, just east of the Swizzle Inn Restaurant, Hamilton Parish.

Officers attended the scene and immediately commenced CPR on the male prior to the arrival of EMS personnel.

The unidentified male was eventually transported via ambulance to the King Edward the VII Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police have commenced an investigation into this incident and anyone with information is asked to call 211 or, the main police number 295-0011
