More infighting at the PLP’s Central Committee meeting this week. This time, we’re told, it had to do with the removal of two confirmed candidates selected to run in the next general election.
It is understood members of the party executive took umbrage with comments made about the party and the party leader in the past.
The two, who are described as political neophyte but are said to possess loads of potential are reported to have criticised the party’s performance on education and other matters and even engaged in protests against decisions to close certain schools.
However, TNN understands there was immediate pushback against the proposed removal of the two conformed individuals. There was said to be heated debate over the issue, with arguments lasting for almost an hour.
In the end, it came to a vote, with those in favour of retaining the two candidates, prevailing by the narrowest of margins. Supposedly 17 – 15.
We have reached out to PLP headquarters for comment.
Meanwhile, party stalwarts are urging a calm down period to allow for the creation of a united front before the next polls. Information reaching TNN suggests calls are being made for all party members to begin singing off the same page and highlighting g the successes of the PLP and its efforts to make life more affordable for residents, particularly in light of plans announced by the Premier in recent days.
