The Flu Express, originally scheduled for September 24th, 28th, and October 2nd, has been postponed and will be rescheduled for later in October.
This postponement is due to the unavailability of vaccines for individuals aged 65 and older, which have not yet arrived on the island. The new Flu Express dates will be announced soon, and we apologize for any inconvenience.
Minister of Health, Kim Wilson, JP, MP, explained, “Since most of the people who rely on the mobile Flu Express are seniors, we felt it was important to delay the service until we have enough vaccine supply specifically for those aged 65 and older. The flu vaccine is free for seniors, and we know how much they value the convenience of the drive-thru service, which makes getting their flu shot quicker and easier. We’re looking forward to announcing new dates very soon.”
Vaccines for those under 65 are still available and can be obtained at physicians’ offices or the Department of Health, located at the Hamilton Health Centre, 67 Victoria Street, Hamilton HM 12. Clinic visits are by appointment. Please call 278-6460 or 278-6461 to book an appointment.
The cost of the vaccine is $20.00 per shot for both adults and children, payable in cash or online.
The Ministry of Health strongly encourages everyone aged 6 months and older to get vaccinated, as both influenza A and B viruses continue to circulate.
