The Ministry of Economy and Labour is pleased to announce the launch of the weekly Fintech Fridays podcast. Introduced through the Economic Development Department (EDD), the podcast aims to demystify Fintech, its core concepts, and its importance for Bermuda.
It is now well-known that Fintech is rapidly growing in Bermuda and, in doing so, introducing notable changes in our economy and impacting our conversations about it. Terms such as ‘cryptocurrency’ and ‘blockchain’ are now commonly thrown around as part of everyday vocabulary. It is, therefore, increasingly crucial for Bermudians to be well-acquainted and knowledgeable about Fintech and the many ways it can benefit the Island and locals.
For this reason, on July 22nd, the EDD launched this new podcast series titled “Fintech Fridays,” presented by the Premier’s Office of Fintech. The first episode introduced the Office of Fintech team and gave a general overview of the Island’s Fintech sector. The second was an interview with Karee Lunda, founder of Under de Wave, and tackled the subject of non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
Episodes of Fintech Fridays will air weekly on various platforms, including Spotify, Anchor, and YouTube. The podcast will feature guests to speak on multiple aspects of demystifying Fintech, NFTs, and crypto-currencies, to name a few.
The Minister of Economy and Labour, Jason Hayward, said, “I am very excited for the launch of Fintech Fridays. The Economic Development Department’s mission is to advance the sustainable growth, development and diversification of Bermuda’s economy. To that end, Fintech Fridays will help ensure an informed and connected workforce. In a light-hearted and informative way, the podcast aims to familiarise listeners with the basics of Fintech and its transformative impact on financial services locally and globally.”
“I encourage everyone to tune in to the podcast and leave their comments and reviews.”
