A former police officer has been charged with soliciting drug supplies from individuals.

Che Young, 38, appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday, acing allegations that he requested other persons to provide him with heroin or cocaine.

Riley Correia, 29, and Umdae Woolridge, 35, are accused of offering to supply these drugs, while Salih Burns, 31, faces two charges related to drug supply.

Additionally, Mr. Young, a Hamilton Parish resident, has also been charged with three counts of attempting to access data from a computer belonging to the Bermuda Police Service (BPS) without authorization.

Mr. Young is thought to be the male officer recently dismissed from the BPS.

The defendants denied the charges, which are said to have occurred between 2023 and 2024, and opted to have the case remain in Magistrates’ Court.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson has adjourned the case until April 28, granting Mr. Burns, from St. George’s, an $8,000 bail. Mr. Correia, from Paget, and Mr. Young and Mr. Woolridge, both from St. George’s, were released on $10,000 bail each with a surety, and they are required to report to Hamilton Police Station every Thursday.
