Foreign nationals accused of attempting to remove criminal proceeds from Island

Two foreign nationals were recently charged in Magistrates Court with attempting to leave Bermuda with property derived via criminal means.

Thadeaus Ramsey and Merrill Boyd, both of New Orleans, Louisiana were charged that they conspired with others not before the courts to depart the Island with a sizeable amount of criminal proceeds, believed to be close to $100,000 thousand dollars in cash.

Thirty-year-old Ramsey and 34-year-old Boyd each offered not guilty pleas to the charges, as they elected to have their cases heard in the lower court.

The men were each bailed in amounts of $20,000, with like sureties and were stripped of their travel documents.

They were also told to report to Hamilton Police Station every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, between 8 am and 8 pm and to reappear in court on October 16.
