Foodhub & FourStar joins the environmental movement spearheaded by the KBB (Keep Bermuda Beautiful) & Beyond Plastic Bermuda.
FoodHub & FourStar will no longer be automatically giving out utensils & napkins in efforts to help the planet and decrease their environmental footprint.
Statements by Minister of Home Affairs Walter Roban, the KBB (Keep Bermuda Beautiful), and Beyond Plastic Bermuda have encouraged us to think more about our single-use plastic usage, and wastage. We are excited to announce a new program demonstrating our commitment to the environment while providing a new sustainable way of dining.
“We congratulate FoodHub (Four Star) on taking this first step to reduce waste. We encourage other restaurants and take out places to follow their lead and move beyond single-use. A little change makes a big difference.” Katie Berry, spokesperson for Beyond Plastic Bermuda.
“While utensils & napkins will no longer be giving out automatically, they will be available. In order to receive utensils or napkins, customers need only to request from their server or click the button on our online ordering site.” A spokesperson said. “In speaking with many of our customers, we learned that many had a growing pile of utensils and napkins at home, at work and some in their vehicles. We have received suggestions from numerous customers indicating that there was an opportunity to make a positive impact.”
Traci Burgess, Executive Director of the KBB says, “Thank you to FoodHub (Four Star) for taking up this initiative and making strides to reduce the company’s supply of single-use plastic products.”
The initiative at all FoodHub & Four Star locations commences November 14th at all locations Island-wide.
