TNN is receiving word of an alleged disturbing firearm-related incident that occurred Sunday afternoon at a popular beach in the Spanish Point area, sending shockwaves through beachgoers on what was otherwise a peaceful day.
According to eyewitnesses, a verbal altercation broke out between individuals at the beach. During the confrontation, one male reportedly brandished what is believed to be a firearm, sparking panic among onlookers. The situation escalated further when the individual allegedly threatened a female at the scene, prompting a swift call to 9-1-1.
Responding officers were immediately dispatched to the scene. By the time police arrived, the individual had fled on a motorbike. However, quick police action led to their interception in the Court Street area. Upon being confronted by officers, one of the individual attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended after a brief chase.
That individual is now in police custody, and investigations are ongoing.
We understand a firearm was not recovered, or the full nature of the charges the suspect may face. TNN is actively monitoring the situation and will provide further updates as they become available.
This alarming event has once again raised concerns about firearm-related violence in Bermuda and the growing need for community vigilance—even in spaces intended for family enjoyment and leisure.
