Final Public Consultation Event for the Draft Blue Prosperity Plan

The Ministry of Home Affairs reminds the public that the third and final town hall-style public consultation event on creating Bermuda’s Draft Blue Prosperity Plan will be held tomorrow at St. James Church Hall, Somerset, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

It is essential for all parties interested in the future use of our waters to participate in these events to learn about the plans and contribute to ensuring they work for all of Bermuda.

If attending, we urge all participants to review and familiarise themselves with the information provided in the Draft Blue Prosperity Plan, which is available online at https://www.bermudaoceanprosperity.org/. Knowledge of the document’s content will significantly benefit understanding the presentation and contribute to thoughtful discussion and feedback.

Minister of Home Affairs Walter Roban said, “I encourage everyone who has not had the opportunity to participate in the first two town hall meetings to come out tomorrow evening.”

“As previously stated, the ultimate goal of the Marine Spatial Plan is to maximise the benefit to Bermudians and minimise negative environmental impacts. It will enhance the health of our ecosystem and support a thriving Blue Economy through sustainable growth and improved livelihoods. The plan will touch on many facets of our marine environment.”

“This meeting is another opportunity to learn, ask questions, and provide feedback. We want to ensure that recreational and commercial activities, especially those ingrained into our culture, will continue to be enjoyed by many and everyone is fully aware and informed of how the plan may impact them.”

Persons wishing to provide in-depth feedback are encouraged to participate in future Ocean Village stakeholder groups. For information on how to join, visit  https://www.bermudaoceanprosperity.org/ocean-village.

The public can also submit feedback through The Citizens Forum, available online at https://forum.gov.bm/.
