Fentanyl related overdoses has Westgate Correctional Officers Concerned

TNN News has learned of a growing concern at the Westgate Correctional Facility, where a fentanyl epidemic is taking a dangerous toll.

According to several reliable sources, six inmates required treatment within the last two weeks due to fentanyl-related health issues, with one individual being transported to the hospital in serious condition after an overdose.

The situation inside the facility has left officers deeply alarmed, as they face an increasing presence of marijuana and heroin laced with fentanyl within the prison walls.

Adding to their fears, officers currently lack the necessary Narcan devices—critical in reversing opioid overdoses—which forces them to wait for paramedics to arrive, potentially at the cost of a life.

The urgency of the situation has led to growing concerns that without immediate action, a tragedy is inevitable.

Authorities are calling for immediate intervention to address this crisis before it’s too late.

TNN sort a response to this crisis at the prison to the Minister of National Security early part of this week, as of today has not received a reply.
