FDM Announced Shakera Richardson as C3 Candidate

The Freedom Democratic Alliance (FDM) unveiled their slate of candidates today, drawing attention to five individuals who stand poised to challenge the current political climate.

Among them is Shakera Richardson, a passionate community advocate from St. Davids, whose journey into politics is deeply rooted in personal struggles and a desire for meaningful change.

In an exclusive interview with TNN’s Trevor Lindsay, Shakera shared her candid reflections on the events that shaped her path, starting with her experiences in Bermuda’s hospitality industry. Once a thriving professional, she was encouraged by her brother, Curtis Richardson, and other Progressive Labour Party (PLP) members to pursue her own business. They told me, Shakera, go open your business. So, after I had to choose between my health and the job that I loved the most, I decided on my health, she said. That leap of faith ultimately led her to entrepreneurship, though not without challenges. Six plus years of trying and still no real support’s it just doesn’t sit well with me.

Her return to St. Davids in 2013 opened her eyes to the neglect her community faced. Feeling a void of leadership that embodied honesty and integrity, Shakera decided to step forward. I believe in fighting for truth and rights, not just for me, but for my family and the people in my community, she asserted.

However, her political debut is overshadowed by a tragic and personal matter. Her brother, Curtis Richardson, currently stands accused in court for his alleged involvement in the death of Marco Warren, a situation that has deeply affected Shakera. Many may know my brother and I don’t see eye to eye, she admitted. But he’s my brother. I may not like him, but I love him.

Shakara spoke emotionally about Marco Warren, a young man she once mentored during her time as an after-school supervisor at Paget Primary. Her connection to Marco ran deep, rooted in shared moments and mutual encouragement. Marco was special to me. His death tore me apart, along with his family and mine. Fighting back tears, she added, I just want the truth to come out so both families can move on and find peace.

She also voiced frustration about the timing of a video implicating an PLP MP, a past President of a local sporting facility and her brother, which surfaced during the crucial election period. Why wait until now? Truth will set you free, and whoever created this, I just pray for them.

Despite these challenges, Shakera remains committed to her cause, urging voters to hold their representatives accountable. Whether you vote PLP, OBA, Independent, or for me, Shakera, in C3 for FDM, follow your heart. Our ancestors and forefathers fought for this, and we’ve lost our way. It’s time to bring back faith, hope, and integrity.

As the election approaches, ShakeraRichardson’s story is a testament to resilience, accountability, and the unrelenting belief in the power of community-driven change.
