As the weather conditions begin to deteriorate here in Bermuda. Overnight, gale-force winds, thunderstorms, heavy rain, are expected as a new pressure system approaches the island.
The Bermuda Weather Service has issued both a Severe Weather Watch and a Gale Warning.
TNN News spoke with Shelly Lehman of the Bermuda Electric Light Company (BELCO). Here’s what she had to say.
“Good evening, Bermuda. This is Shelly Lehman, Managing Director of Transmission, Distribution, and Retail at BELCO.
Tonight, Saturday, January 31st, the Bermuda Weather Service has issued a Severe Weather Watch and a Gale Warning, with conditions expected to continue deteriorating.
BELCO crews are on standby and ready to respond to weather-related outages tonight and tomorrow, as conditions allow. If you do experience a loss of power, please know our crews will be working to restore service as soon as it is safe to do so.
If your service is interrupted, we ask that you unplug sensitive electronics and monitor belco.bm or BELCO’s social media channels for the latest updates.
For emergencies such as pole fires, please call 955 and speak with one of our operators.
