Experience healing in action at Focus’ Open House

The public is invited to witness healing in action at Focus Counselling Services’ Open House today – Friday, May 15 – at its sprawling 3.2-acre coastal property situated at 37 Barry Road, St. George’s.

What if recovery wasn’t the finish line … but the starting point for something bigger?
Experience recovery, growth, and community through the Root & Rise Healing Earth Project, where real change happens in the soil, programs, and people.

Step into the project that’s changing how Bermuda heals:

Walk through a space built on the belief that “recovery is not the end — it’s the beginning.”
Meet people rebuilding their lives and see how our permaculture model combines healing, sustainability, and opportunity.

“Root & Rise was born out of a simple truth: we cannot keep doing the same thing and expect a different result,” explained Leslie Grant, FCS Executive Director. “If we are serious about reducing relapse, recidivism, homelessness, and hopelessness, then recovery must be connected to purpose, work, land, food, community, and healing.

“Root & Rise is not just a programme — it is a movement. It is a new way of walking with people in recovery while restoring the land that sustains us. Through food security, reforestation, land restoration, social enterprise, and life skills development, we are creating pathways for people to rebuild their lives while giving back to Bermuda.

“Why now? Because the need is urgent. Our community needs stronger recovery supports, our people need meaningful opportunities, and our island needs sustainable solutions. Root & Rise brings these needs together in one bold vision: restoring hope, restoring lives, and restoring the earth — one person, one seed, and one community at a time.”

Those attending Friday’s event will enjoy an engaging, welcoming experience.
