During the weekend, at least five people were killed and over a dozen injured in Chicago.
The first person killed during the weekend was 31-year-old Eujon Eversley.
Mr. Eversley, a Bermudian man who left Bermuda at young age is said to have lived in the suburban area of Bellwood, was standing at a gangway in between two buildings at the beginning of North Menard Avenue, when someone fired gunshots at him at around 10:15 p.m. on Friday night.
Mr. Eversley suffered serious gunshot wounds to his head and body and was subsequently pronounced dead by police at the scene. An autopsy report confirmed that the cause of his death was homicide.
A 23-year-old was also shot dead around 10:25 p.m. on West Harrison Avenue in the Lawndale area of the city. Suffering from gunshots mostly to their chests, they were pronounced dead upon arrival at Mount Sinai Hospital.
The Cook County medical office has not revealed any further information on this person or their death.
