EMO ISSUE TROPICAL STORM WARNING

With the approach of Tropical Storm Alex, the Bermuda Weather Service (BWS) has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for the island.

 

And Minister Michael Weeks advised that the Ministry of National Security and the Emergency Measures Organisation (EMO) continues to monitor the storm and its developments.

 

The Minister’s timely assurance comes just as Hurricane Season got underway last Wednesday (June 1).

 

The BWS notes that as of the 12noon forecast, TS Alex’s closest point of approach is expected to be 68 nm to the NNW of Bermuda 12 pm on Monday.

 

It’s anticipated that winds associated with TS Alex will begin to increase later tonight lasting into Monday.

 

The public is advised that Minister Weeks will provide an update at 6.30 pm today to provide the community with the latest developments associated with Tropical Storm Alex.

As a reminder, Hurricane Season spans from June 1 – November 30, and weather forecasters have predicted a very busy season.
