Emergency Lane Closure on Somerset Road Due to Retaining Wall Failure

The Ministry of Public Works advises the public of an emergency lane closure on the westbound lane of Somerset Road, near Scaur Hill in Sandys Parish, due to the failure of a retaining wall adjacent to the roadway.

The lane closure will take effect today, Thursday, 19 September 2024, and will remain in place until further notice to ensure the safety of road users.

Motorists are urged to proceed with caution while driving in the affected area. Traffic will be controlled via temporary traffic lights and Stop/Go boards to manage the flow of vehicles.

The Ministry appreciates the public’s cooperation during this time and will provide updates as the situation progresses.
