A road traffic accident is under police investigation today as it is believed an 78 year old elderly man driving a private car heading west in the vicinity of the Port Royal Fire Station veered across the road into the path of a on coming truck collided head on with each other.
The elderly man was transported to hospital via ambulance for his unknown injuries.
TNN News spoke with accident victim and driver of the truck Dennie O’ Connor ” Who states the man came straight at his truck”.
“We where driving back home after an afternoon drive to Dockyard, as I drove down Port Royal stretch all of a sudden this car came on my side of the road, I notice the car about 30′ yards back and we thought he was actually gonna turn and he just kept coming straight towards us and he just hit my truck head on. I’m glad the man I believe is gonna be Ok”.
It’s was a very awful experience to have this happen to me just before Father’s Day, I’m especially glad that he’s gonna be OK, I was thinking maybe he had a heart attack of some sort or a medical condition, it was definitely stated he doesn’t drink so it doesn’t make any sense on why he would come on the other side of the road. The guy looked completely unconscious coming into our lane, we are very blessed it wasn’t a bike or I was driving car it would have been much worst.
My vehicle is damaged and it’s not moving so that’s it. It’s gonna be a while before I get home this evening because there’s no tow trucks available apparently. I’m struggling right now but again this is life, I am really upset with what just happened.
