At lunch, challengers, Bailey’s Bay, are 111 for two, with captain Terryn Fray leading by example, having dominated the champions’ bowling attack from the outset.
Fray, having abandoned his usual slow style for attacking flamboyance, strolled to a half-century, requiring just 44 balls to reach the benchmark, incorporating nine boundaries.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Fray and opening partner Coolidge Durham found the opening bowling pair of Damali Bell and captain Mackih McGowan an appetising concoction. The pair eased their way to 34, scoring at a run-a-ball, before Durham threw away his wicket.
Attempting to drive a loose McGowan delivery, Durham could only manage a soft lob to Jabari Darrell at cover point.
The dismissal brought the big bat of Delray Rawlins to the wicket, joining Fray, and the pair quickly set about restoring the damage and regaining initiative.
Like the first wicket, Fray and Rawlins added runs easily, moving the total to 68 when Darrell struck a timely blow, trapping Rawlins lbw for 17.
Tre Manders came in to replace. He and Fray solidified matters, with the latter able to reach his half-century and move on to 70 when rain intervened at 11.30, forcing an early lunch period, with the score now 11 for 2 after 18.3 overs, with Fray unbeaten on 70 and Manders 13 not out.
