East and West notch three wins apiece during BSSF All-Star Football Showcase

The East and West shared the spoils during the annual Bermuda Schools Sports Federation [BSSF] All-Star Football Showcase, with both sides recording three wins.

The East got off to a winning start at the BSSF football all star showcase. The East won 4-1 in the primary school girls match. Keirra Broadley-Samuels from St. George’s Preparatory led the East with two goals. Somersfield Academy’s Sophie Ferrer and Francis Patton’s Erelah James scored the other goals for the East. The lone goal for the west was scored by Kelia Crucenzo from BHS. The match MVPs were Broadley-Samuels for the East and Cush Belboda from Purvis Primary from the West

The East continued their winning ways with a 3-2 win in the primary school boys game. Jacree Francis from port Royal Primary gave the west an early lead. The East came storming back with a pair of goals from the Francis Patton Primary pair of Titan Pogson and Cyme Dowling. Prospect Primary’s Shiloh Stevens put the game out of reach early in the second half. The west managed to pull a goal back through an own goal late in the match. MVPs for the match were Harrington Sound Primary’s Austin Viera for the East and Cree Bean from Warwick Academy for the west

The winning streak continued in the middle school girls game after Whitney’s Daley Outerbridge scored the games only goal. Outerbridge was named MVP along with west goalkeeper Semaj Scott from Mount Saint Agnes Academy

The west middle school boys team finally broke the East win streak with a 3-1 win. Warwick academy’s Zydon Lightbourne Furbert scored twice along with Saltus Grammar Schools Roman Wilkinson. Sandys Secondary Middle School’s Deacon Wade was named MVP for the west along with Amai Harvey from The Whitney Institute

The west senior girls carried the winning momentum with a 6-0 win. The the west took an early lead through an own goal. That was followed by three long range efforts from Berkeley Institute’s Evans Welch and the Warwick Academy pair Adriana Argent and Amiya James. Warwick teammate Sanna Simmons added a fifth just before halftime. Berkeley’s Chiaje Rudo rounded out the scoring early in the second half. Argent was named west MVP while Saltus Grammar Schools Katherine Bean Rosario was named MVP for the East team

The west won their third match in a row to even out the series in the senior school boys game. The west ended up 3-0 winners in the night cap. Daion Swan-DeSilva gave the west the lead in the 10th with the only goal of the first half. The Berkeley Institute student would earn MVP honours for the west. Mount Saint Agnes senior and North Village teammate Anijahe dos Santos Martin would double the lead in the second half with when he out jumped the advanced East goalkeeper to head the ball home. School mate Olek Rymon Lipinksi rounded out the scoring with a thunderous free kick from the edge of the area. CedarBridge Academy forward Kameron McNeil was named MVP for the east
