Junior motorcycle racer, Aeziah Divine, competed in the third round of the R&G British Talent Cup, a support class in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship designed to give racers between ages 14 and 17 development and progression opportunities on the Road to MotoGP™.
It was his first time racing at Snetterton Circuit in Norwich. The weekend started on Thursday with a Cooper Test, a 12-minute fitness assessment to gauge cardiovascular endurance, where he clocked a distance of 2900m and placed joint-second amongst his competitors and ‘very good / excellent’ in the 5-tier ranking – the highest fitness bracket for his age.
Divine found the track technical and challenging during Friday’s free practice sessions (FP1 and FP2). “I got a few good tows in FP1 from the faster riders to help me understand the track better. In FP2, I spent most of the session on my own, not quite able to catch a tow, and wasn’t able to improve much on my time.”
Divine improved his lap times in qualifying, securing a P21 grid position for race 1. Throughout the race, he had fierce battles with his competitors, frequently changing positions while other riders in his group crashed out under pressure. With a close drag to the line, Divine crossed the chequered flag just ahead of another rider to secure P14, his best race finish to date in the championship, earning his first championship points. After post-race penalties were applied toother riders, he was later moved to P11.
Starting in P16 on the grid in race 2, Divine fought hard to hold his position but a few chaotic opening laps for his group resulted in him being shuffled further back. “Near the end of the race, I fought back to make up a few positions and held it to the flag where I crossed the line in P18.”
The 15-year-old’s next race is at Brands Hatch Circuit in Kent on 25 – 27 July 2025. Between race rounds, he plans to continue training and preparing in Spain to bridge the gap with his competitors and continue to improve his race craft. Divine was a recent recipient of the 2025 National Junior Athlete Sponsorship Programme, which offered criticalsupport towards his training and championship costs.
