Dion Smith announced as OBA candidate for C27 Warwick North Central

Dion Smith is the One Bermuda Alliance candidate for constituency 27, Warwick North Central. A father of two, Dion is a technology expert and the Managing Director of Smith Technologies Ltd.
A successful entrepreneur, Dion is a past board director of the Adult Education School and a former Bermuda Telecommunications Commissioner and the Regulatory Authority of Bermuda.
Professionally, he embraces a ‘do it right the first time’ philosophy when it pertains to work and customer service.
“It is the core of my business success,” he shares.
Dion is passionate about strengthening the economy: “Government needs to focus on our economy, but it should be done by instituting a local economy—an economy that does not fall under the same umbrella as IB.”
Dion possesses a vision for Warwick North Central: “Roadside and hedges cleaned, either by owners individually or in partnership with the Government. Our roads that are stressed need street lighting and road reflectors. Sometimes called raised pavement markers, the reflectors are designed to help control traffic while encouraging safer driving conditions. Constructed from either durable plastic or ceramic, these road reflectors are especially important for making traffic lanes more visible at night. Another aspiration is to have underground electricity cables instead off overhead poles and exposed electrical wires.
On a national level, Dion believes in order for the country to regain the prosperity it once enjoyed, there needs to be collective buy-in.
“Bermuda needs to concentrate on a National strategic plan that the majority agree with, creating transparency and a vison for the country. This would include referendums, so everyone is included in decision making.”
