Devonshire Man Charged in Connection with the Murder of Janae Minors

A 24-year-old Devonshire man has been formally charged in Magistrates’ Court in connection with the murder of Janae Minors.

Kinte York, 24, of Devonshire, appeared before Magistrate Maria Sofianos this morning, facing two serious charges.

The first count alleges that York, along with Najee Simons and others, unlawfully killed Janae Minors. The second count charges that York, in connection with Najee Simons and others, used a firearm while committing an indictable offense.

York was not required to enter a plea, as the charges are indictable and must be heard in the Supreme Court. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to reappear in the Supreme Court on December 1st at 10 a.m. for the monthly arraignment session.

York was represented by attorney Marc Daniels, while Director of Public Prosecutions Cindy Clarke appeared for the Crown.

The case remains under active investigation.
