DESILVA TIGHT-LIPPED REGARDING PLP LEADERSHIP CHALLENGE

With the Progressive Labour Party (PLP) delegates conference rapidly approaching and there having been a challenge of Premier David Burt announced by former Finance Minister Curtis Dickinson, another former minister was asked to share thoughts on the impending battle.

TNN caught up with Zane DeSilva on Monday and queried , querying the former Minister of Tourism as to his take on the impending showdown between Dickinson and the Premier.

However, despite some probing Mr DeSilva remained for the most part  tight-lipped, offering just a few light- hearted quips regarding what represents an internal party matter.

“What do I think about it? Come to the delegates conference on the 20th and I, along with the rest of the people that are voting will tell you exactly what we think,” was Mr DeSilva’s initial response “If you’re asking me if it’s healthy, I think it’s healthy.

“Our forefathers developed the constitution and they develped it for a very good reason, which is why it still stands today.”

Mr DeSilva’s name has been one that has been frequently bandied around as a potential party leader, particularly considering his demonstrated operational business skills in running a major local company ICS a talent seen as bereft among sitting PLP Parliamentarians.

The construction boss turned comedic when asked if a future challenge from him could be expected saying, “Well, You never know. Somebody said that Mickey Mouse was associated with a challenge too.”
