All-rounder Derrick Brangman dominated the recently held Bermuda Cricket Board awards ceremony at Gosling’s Wine Cellar, walking away with a slew of prizes.
The St David’s Cricket Club captain received five awards based on a stellar 2024 season in all formats, which affirmed his status as Bermuda’s best practitioner of the ‘gentlemen’s game’.
Brangman was named Most Valuable Player in both the Athene 50 Overs Premier Division and Athene T20 First Division, having claimed the most wickets in both leagues, while also scoring the most runs in the latter.
Warwick Workmen’s Club all-rounder Malachi Jones was named MVP for his consistently high performances with both bat and ball in the Athene 50 Overs First Division while leading the club to promotion to the top flight.
A break-out year by teenage sensation Luke Horan earned him the Emerging Player prize.
Southampton Rangers’ captain Dalin Richardson grabbed the prize as the Athene 50 Overs First Division’s top batsman and Keegan Jones of Flatts best bowler, while Oronde Bascome of St George’s took similar honours in the Athene 50 Overs Premier Division.
Other winners on the night included Kamau Leverock, who was the Athene T20 Premier Division’s leading run-scorer, Jaiden Manders, who grabbed the most wickets, and Dominic Sabir was named the top league’s MVP.
Coach of the Year honours went to Clay Smith (Premier Division) and Lorenzo Tucker (First Division).
