Dellwood Middle School Student Hospitalized After Consuming THC Edible

Parents of students attending the Dellwood Middle School concerned over a recent incident at the school, in which a female student had to be taken to hospital for medical treatment after consuming a THC containing edible.

The item was reportedly provided to her by a boy who also attends the Middle School.

Speaking with TNN parents claim the boy who provided the edible was suspended but is soon to return to classes. A situation they feel is untenable.

A Parent Teacher meeting is scheduled to take place at the school this evening to discuss the situation.

The letter dated March 1st, signed by acting principal Trina Cariah.

In it she says, “I am writing to bring to your attention a matter of grave concern.
There have been reports of student(s) selling and consuming edible products on school grounds. As educators and caregivers, it is our responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.”

The acting principal says the school takes this matter very seriously and we are addressing it with urgency.

She adds, “Edible products, particularly products containing substances which are not suitable for consumption by minors, pose significant health threats.

We are actively investigating these reports and are taking steps to eliminate the presence of such items on school premises.”

“Any student found to be selling, sharing or consuming edibles will be dealt with in accordance with the Code of Conduct and the Police and DCFS will be involved.”

Ms. Cariah urged parents to speak with their children about the dangers of consuming unknown substances, including edibles and to remind their children of the importance of reporting any suspicious activity to school staff or administration immediately.

She ended by saying, “Our priority is to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment for all students. We appreciate your cooperation and support in addressing this issue with your children.”
