Deal Struck Between GenCom and Bermuda Government Over Southampton Princess

TNN understands that the Premier has called a special Cabinet Meeting tomorrow, Friday January 28, where the Cabinet is expected to finalise the deal with GenCom for the Southampton Princess.

Word reaching TNN suggesting that this deal has been a top priority for the Government, with Premier David Burt and Minister of Finance Curtis Dickinson working around the clock to ensure that this deal is finalised which will provide an immediate boost to the economy.

The Southampton Princess project is expected to create approx 700 construction jobs, as well as employment in other industries such as trucking and material supply. It will take around 16 months to complete and is expected to begin before 1 April so the hotel will be open for guests in the late summer of 2023.

TNN also understands that the newly redeveloped hotel will provide additional conference facilities which will have a positive knock-on effect for Bermuda’s airlift.
