D.O.E Math Summer Programme for Bermuda Public School Students expands to accept P2 – M3 Students

“Based on the overwhelming success of the BPSS Math Summer Programme last year and numerous requests from parents to include P2 students, the Math Team from the Department of Education is happy to report we will offer the four-week math tutoring programme during July for P2 – M3 students,” said Department of Education Math Officer, Mr. Crenstant Williams.

The BPSS Math Summer Programme will run from July 3rd – 28th, 2023, at the Dellwood Middle School from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm for $60 per week.

Students must bring their Google Chromebooks for all lessons, as technology is a key component of the programme. The registration deadline is Friday, June 9th, 2023, and the link can be found here bit.ly/2023SummerMath

Mr. Williams added, “Our BPSS expert math teachers will deliver lessons on topics informed by key areas of weakness identified by the end-of-year assessments. There will be a focus on deeper conceptual understanding and procedural modeling.”

The Minister of Education, the Hon. Diallo Rabain, concluded, “Bermuda, our goal is for all our students within the Bermuda Public School System to excel in math, and the BPSS Summer Math Programme is one of the stepping stones to achieve that goal.”

“Previously, the BPSS Math Summer Programme accepted P3 – M3 students. As a commitment to improving math knowledge and skills for our students, the Math Team used feedback from parents to expand the programme to accept P2 students.”

“The BPSS Summer Programme is an extension of the BPSS Math Intervention Programme and has been offered for the last three (3) years. It is a highly individualised programme that is linked to a student’s overall school performance, common assessments, and checkpoints.”
